CPR, ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) & PALS

CPR, ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) & PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) are the main focus of the American Heart Association and the core of patient management in an emergency. These classes offer important insight into the latest life saving techniques and equipment. ACLS and PALS offer important refresher training for extreme emergency situations that all clinical staff can encounter. But what are the major differences between all three certifications?
A CPR certification teaches CPR, AED use and relief of choking for adults and children. It also teaches how to manage illnesses and injuries in the first few minutes before professional help arrives. In addition to CPR and AED use, it also stresses the general principles of first aid, medical emergencies, injury emergencies and environmental emergencies.
